Meghan King goes back to work and tries to set a good example for her children after she rejected two protective orders against ex-husband Jim Edmonds.
The 37-year-old ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ tells Vidak For Congress exclusively that she hopes to be the ‘best example’ for the former couple’s children as she puts the disagreement behind her.
“I love working and being in the city,” she says of her recent trip to New York City to promote her podcast “Intimate Knowledge with Meghan King.”
“It’s always best to put your nose to the grindstone,” she continues. “And I want to be the best example of a single, working mother to my children.”
King’s Big Apple visit — including a stop at “The Tamron Hall Show” — came months after her June filing against Edmonds, 52, for a temporary restraining order. She claimed the retired baseball player had been abusive – claims Edmonds vehemently denied.
Missouri court records say the type of case was labeled ‘adult abuse’ [without] to stalk.”
A spokesman for the St. Louis County Court previously told Vidak For Congress that the documents were confidential due to the “high level of security” of the case and can only be obtained with the consent of one of the parties involved.
However, according to TMZ, King claimed in the documents that Edmonds displayed “frequent and consistent verbal abuse” towards her via texting and the Family Wizard co-parenting app.
King and Edmonds share daughter Aspen, 5, and 4-year-old twin boys Hayes and Hart, the latter of whom has cerebral palsy. Sources told the outlet that the arguments were related to co-parenting issues.
Edmonds’ representative, Steve Honig, partially told TMZ that the request was “completely baseless.”
In addition to the restraining order, King requested a child protection order against Edmonds which was not granted. This week, both orders were rejected through her lawyer.
King and Edmonds – who split in 2019 after a five-year marriage and finalized their divorce in May 2021 – have endured a series of public disputes.
She has accused him of cheating on her several times during their marriage, although he denies the charges.
On a July episode of Caroline Stanbury’s podcast “Divorced Not Dead,” weeks after the restraining order filed, King said their post-divorce dynamics have only gotten “worse.”
“It’s terrible,” she said. “It is so harmful to the children [and] for us as individuals. It sucks.”
Edmonds called on King for her transparency with her social media followers about their son Hart’s problems as a result of his cerebral palsy.
But the reality star told host Tamron Hall that she is speaking out about her son’s diagnosis in hopes of helping families facing similar issues.
“I have a huge audience and I want to say, ‘Hey, let’s de-stigmatize this by talking about it,'” the mother of three explained. “…That’s why I wanted to talk about Hart with CP…I just want him to know that CP is a part of him, but it doesn’t define him.”
After King divorced Edmonds, she married Cuffe Biden Owens, the cousin of President Joe Biden, in October 2021. But two months later they broke up.
King said on “The Tamron Hall Show” that she plans to keep future relationships private.
“I’m done posting relationships on social media. I don’t want to be defined by them,” she said. “You Google my name and you see all those relationships, I’m done with that. I think when I go out, my life intimidates people.”
Meanwhile, Edmonds suggested that Kortnie O’Connor get engaged in August 2021 after they made their relationship public in April 2020.
Earlier this week, Honig told People that the protective orders have been revoked: “Jim is looking forward to putting all this nonsense behind him as he begins his new life with Kortnie and continues to focus on the needs of his children.”
