Royal reporter lashes out at Meghan Markle over The Cut interview

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have “learned no lessons,” claims a longtime royal reporter.

After The Cut published Markle’s bombshell cover story on Monday, Daily Express royal correspondent Richard Palmer about tweeted some of the “stunning moments” in the interview, which he says suggest that “tone-deaf Harry and Meghan haven’t learned any lessons.”

Perhaps the most “overwhelming” topic discussed by the biracial former actress, 41, was the “structure” of how photos of her children were shared with the public, which she claimed took the opportunity to make racist comments when she is an active member of the royal family.

Markle explained that she was expected to provide photos of her now three-year-old son, Archie, to the Royal Rota, the press pool that covers Queen Elizabeth II and her line of succession.

“Why would I give the people who call my children the N-word a picture of my child before I can share it with the people who love my child?” she argued in the story. “You tell me how that makes sense and then I play that game.”

The “Suits” alum, who is also mother to 1-year-old daughter Lilibet, previously spoke about the racist media coverage that drove her and her husband away from the royal family and from social media in a polarizing sit-down interview with Oprah. Winfrey in March 2021.

The cyberbullying was “almost unsurvivable,” Markle explained at the time, revealing that it even made her have suicidal thoughts.

The Duchess of Sussex also told Winfrey, 68, that before his arrival there were “concerns and conversations” within the royal family about her son’s skin color.

“I was a little shocked,” Harry, 37, interrupted at the time, noting that he “would never share” the comment about Archie’s skin color.

The relative in question has since reportedly been Harry’s father, Prince Charles, but a spokesman for the Prince of Wales told The Post that the speculation was “fiction and worth no further comment”.

Despite the denial, Markle feels Harry has “lost” his father following the couple’s departure from the royal family in January 2020.

“Harry said to me, ‘I lost my father in this process.’ It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it is for me, but that’s his decision,” she told The Cut when asked if she had an argument with her own father, Thomas Markle.

As for the possibility of family reconciliation, the “Deal or No Deal” alum replied, “I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy not to forgive. But it takes a lot of effort to forgive. I really I did my best, especially knowing I can say anything.”

A source clarified exclusively to Vidak For Congress that Meghan actually meant to say she didn’t want Harry to lose his relationship with his father — and not that it was “lost” already.

Meanwhile, a high-ranking royal insider added: “I am not aware that Harry is breaking up with his father. Charles gave Harry and Meghan millions when they left the UK.”

However, during the couple’s joint interview with Winfrey, Harry claimed the royals were “literally cut” [him] financially off” after Megxit.

He added that Charles, 73, “quitted” [his] calls” about leaving his role as a working member of the royal family.
