Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson are “moving forward” after they called it quits last month.
The ‘Love Is Blind’ stars took to their respective social media pages on Wednesday to provide an insight into their ‘whirlwind’ experience and its unfortunate ending.
“It has taken a while to speak publicly about the end of my marriage as the emotions are still raw,” Ruhl, 29, wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. “However, I will always appreciate those who have followed my journey and continue to support me throughout this experience.”
Although the couple’s marriage didn’t work out, Ruhl reflected on the “incredible friends” and the new perspective she gained since being on the show.
“I’ve also learned to love myself and prioritize surrounding those who love me for who I am,” she said, adding that “the future is bright” and that her “next chapter is the best yet.” will be.”
Thompson, 36, also spoke about the couple’s split, saying that while fans watched their love story unfold on TV, people “have little insight into the reality of our everyday life experiences.”
“The past few weeks have been especially challenging for me,” he confessed on Instagram, just two hours before his estranged wife’s post. “As many of us go through a loss or life-changing event, we experience cycles of grief as we navigate our emotions.”
He continued: “Everyone sees and experiences grief differently when a relationship ends, let alone the loss of a marriage in the public eye. I work on my own mental and emotional challenges to overcome feelings of anxiety and depression.”
Thompson went on to say that he has attracted to those who are “loyal” to him in an effort to block the people who are “disappointing or inconsistent” with his “truth or well-being”.
“Most importantly, I’ve learned that it’s okay not to be okay and that staying true to myself is essential to finding my way forward.”
He concluded by commenting that he is “grateful” for the experience, but is still trying to heal his wounds.
“I am devastated that my marriage has ended. I know in my heart that I did my best and gave everything I had.”
Ruhl filed for divorce from Thompson on August 15 after being married for more than a year.
Many fans of the hit reality show were shocked to learn that the couple had split up after Ruhl talked about the former couple’s plans to renew their vows a month earlier.
“On our two- or three-year anniversary, we really want to redo a reception to make sure all our families can attend,” she told Us Weekly in July. “I have always dreamed of my dream wedding and wedding planning and a bachelorette party. And so we’ll do all that again…when we have the time.”
At the time of their breakup, they were one of the last couples from season 2 of “Love Is Blind” still together.
