Kanye West trades his Yeezys for something more sparkly.
Attending the Burberry fashion show in London on Monday, the Yeezy designer paired his all-leather look with some surprising footwear: intoxicated thongs and black socks.
“The studded flip flops go unnecessarily fast”, a fan tweetedwhile another called the shoe choice “sort of serving”.
West’s bling-out thongs were shown on models at Burberry’s show, as were high-heeled versions that his ex Kim Kardashian was sure to flip for.
While the 45-year-old rapper is “famous” for his unique taste in footwear, in the past he has pushed styles ranging from Crocs-style foam clogs to oversized Red Wing work boots, but he usually sticks to pairs he designed himself.
But this wasn’t just any Burberry show; the British house was originally scheduled to unveil its Spring 2023 collection at London Fashion Week earlier this month, but postponed the presentation in light of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on September 8.
Creative director Riccardo Tisci, a longtime friend and associate of West, honored the late queen by pausing the music for a moment of silence before the show’s end, according to Fashionista.
West referred to Her Majesty for the second time on social media on Sunday, sharing his condolences to the people of England for saying he “ [his] Queen too” – referring to Kardashian, 41.
It seems West prioritized the Burberry presentation over personally supporting Kardashian’s Dolce & Gabbana collaboration; Khloé Kardashian, Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner all sat front row at Milan Fashion Week on Saturday for Kim’s most important moment, as did North, Chicago and Saint West.
However, prior to his trip to London, the Grammy winner posted a photo of an all-silver Dolce look from the archives his ex wore in Italy ahead of her big show.
While in Burberry, West posed with Naomi Campbell, Erykah Badu and Bella Hadid — and even hugged ex-girlfriend Irina Shayk, a longtime Burberry muse.
Other celebrities who attended included Normani, Lori Harvey, Chloe Bailey, Camilla Morrone and Simone Ashley.
