Hunter Biden was spotted in Malibu with his wife and young son on Thursday as rumors circulated about the state of the couple’s marriage and the federal investigation facing the first son.
Biden was seen with their toddler Beau walking side by side with wife Melissa Cohen as they crossed a street with Secret Service members chasing them.
The outing was unusual for the family who were rarely seen in public.
Biden has tried to stay in the background as federal investigators delve into his taxes and foreign business deals.
The investigation — being conducted by Trump-appointed Delaware attorney David Weiss — is approaching a “critical” phase, according to recent reports, and legal experts believe prosecutors could weigh up a possible plea deal for the president’s son.
Previous reports from Fox News and CNN suggested Biden could face potential tax charges and foreign lobbying costs, but a former Justice Department official and other legal experts said a “generous guilty plea” looks more likely on the horizon.
The investigation and subsequent need to stay out of the public eye has reportedly taken a toll on the first son and his family.
Sources close to Biden and his South African wife said their marriage was on the rocks.
“The couple feel like they are locked up in their home in Little Rock, Malibu and are always being watched by the Secret Service,” a source told The Post.
“They are not going anywhere because they have been instructed to stay out of sight and away from the cameras while the Hunter investigation continues,” the source said.
Cohen’s cabin fever has also been exacerbated by Hunter’s behavior behind closed doors, according to the source.
“The reality is that he is a train wreck and life with him behind closed doors is very hard. She had no idea what she was getting into.”
The source added: “But there is still love, and she loves her son. She’s concentrating on him, that’s all she can do for now.”
Biden, 52, and Cohen, 35, were married in a surprise ceremony in May 2019, just six days after they met. They welcomed their son Beau, who was named after Biden’s late brother – in March 2020.
