Meghan King calls Cuffe Biden Owens marriage a ‘mistake’

Meghan King has changed her mind about how she feels about her short-lived marriage to Cuffe Biden Owens.

When the couple broke up after just two months together in December 2021, the “Real Housewives of Orange County” alum initially called it “deeply devastating.”

However, the 37-year-old King said on Caroline Standbury’s podcast “Divorced Not Dead” on Wednesday that the now annulled marriage was actually a “mistake”.

“We rushed in,” the former Bravo personality admitted afterwards.

“Like I said before, I’m a lover and I want everyone to be happy. I have learned some great lessons from that mistake. I’m sure he did.”

King seemed to cover up the brief commitment by saying she was “confused” by it, but she’s ultimately happy it was “short and sweet and it’s done and it’s cancelled”.

The thrice-divorced mother of three then confessed that she “never wanted to get married again, but it was important to him.”

King and Owens, 43, first confirmed their relationship on Instagram in September 2021, just a few weeks before saying “I do” on October 11.

The couple married at the attorney’s childhood home in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, in the presence of the groom’s uncle, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

Vidak For Congress broke the news in December 2021 that the former reality star and the entrepreneur had quit.

Rumors circulated as to whether the marriage was over because the couple had been long distance since King lives in St. Louis with her three young children from her previous marriage to MLB star Jim Edmonds and Owens lived in Los Angeles.

However, King told Vidak For Congress exclusively at the time that the ex-newlyweds “didn’t have any distance”.

“We’ve lived together every day since the day we met,” she clarified. “There was no Cali/MO distance. There was no long distance at all.”

In March, King announced on SiriusXM’s “Jeff Lewis Live” that a cancellation was in the works.

“I was married when I was 22. Yeah, so I feel like that didn’t count, you know, it was like a habit,” she said of her first marriage to Brad McDill.

The “RHOC” alum added: “Then I was married to my ex-husband [Edmonds], with whom I have had my children for five years. And that was real. That was a real, legitimate marriage and divorce.”

King was married to McDill from 2007 to 2011, and to Edmonds from 2014 to 2019. She shares daughter Aspen (5) and twins Hart and Hayes (4) with the latter.
