Zac Efron Returns to East High from ‘High School Musical’

Wildcats everywhere, wave your hands in the air!

Zac Efron returned to East High from “High School Musical,” the popular Disney franchise that made him a household name.

“Don’t you… Forget me ✊🏼,” the actor wrote in an Instagram post on Friday in which he posed in front of the school in Salt Lake City.

Though Efron appeared to be referencing the Simple Minds song from the iconic 1985 teen movie “The Breakfast Club,” his followers expressed hope that the post meant an “HSM”-related project is in the works.

“OMG please tell me there’s a reunion!” one fan wrote, while another added, “The way I need a reboot with you to happen! Troy forever ily Zac 💕.”

Several fans noted that Efron’s ex and former co-star Vanessa Hudgens posted social media images of her in front of East High last month.

“But just… Vanessa posted a similar one a few weeks ago. What does this mean?” someone asked.

Another person suspected that Efron, 34, and Hudgens, 33, could make cameos on Disney+’s “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”

“Hope this means you and Vanessa are guest stars on HSMTMTS,” another person wrote.

The pair memorably played the lovebirds Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez in the three “HSM” movies, which were released between 2006 and 2008. Efron and Hudgens have continued in real life until now, although they finally called it quits in 2010.

“We had an instant connection,” the “Say OK” singer told Glamor the year they broke up. “I think everyone could see it. When we had our audition, they matched us. And he was cute.”

Though things reportedly ended amicably, Hudgens told “Access Hollywood Live” in 2017 that: she and Efron finally stopped talking.

“Oh, yes, no … that’s not happening,” she admitted. “I’ve completely lost touch with him.”

It remains to be seen if Efron reconnects with Hudgens at East High.

Meanwhile, the Hollywood hunk’s longtime TV dad and basketball coach, like most of his fans, is happy to see him back in Wildcats territory.

“It warms coaches’ hearts to see this,” said actor Bart Johnson, who played coach Jack Bolton. ‘Welcome home, son. WHAT TEAM!? .”
