Prince William and Prince Harry joined King Charles III as Queen Elizabeth II’s casket departed Buckingham Palace for Westminster Hall on Wednesday.
In addition to Charles’ children, the 73-year-old monarch’s siblings, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, walked side by side behind the coffin.
The late Queen was initially transported in a hearse to Buckingham Palace on Tuesday from Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she died on September 8 at the age of 96.
In Wednesday’s procession, her coffin was pulled by a chariot with her crown on it.
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle followed the procession in separate cars. The former rode with Queen Consort Camilla, while the latter sat next to Edward’s wife Sophie.
William, 40, and Harry, 37, walked side by side, echoing the positions they took after their mother, Princess Diana, died in August 1997 at the age of 36.
While the eldest brother wore a military uniform, Harry was dressed in a suit as he was not allowed to wear his own suit.
The former pilot, who has lost three military honors since retiring from the royal family, responded on Tuesday with a statement to the divestiture.
“Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex will wear a morning suit at events honoring his grandmother,” a Sussex spokesperson told Vidak For Congress.
“His decade of military service is not defined by the uniform he wears and we respectfully request that attention continue to be paid to the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”
Harry, who officially resigned from his royal roles in February 2021, is estranged from William – but the siblings were publicly reunited with their wife for the first time in two years on Saturday.
The Fab Four took a royal walk outside Windsor Castle, with the joint outing reportedly initiated by the Prince of Wales.
Not only did the royal brothers make headlines for their different treatment of their wives, but a video of Meghan Markle’s awkward exchange with an assistant about flowers went viral.
Harry and William went to dinner together on Tuesday evening after the procession to Buckingham Palace.
Oprah Winfrey, who released a great interview with Harry and Markle (41) in March 2021, told Extra she believes there could be healing within the royal family in the future.
“When all the families come together for a communal ceremony, the ritual of, you know, burying your dead, there’s a chance to make peace,” the former talk show host, 68, explained Monday. “Hopefully there will be.”
