Whitney Cummings on Dating Funny Women, Her Best Underrated Comedians

Who wouldn’t want to date a funny woman?

Stand-up comedian Whitney Cummings joined Jim Norton and Sam Roberts on SiriusXM’s Raw Dog Comedy to explain why she understands how some men can be intimidated by dating women who are funnier than them.

“The number of times I’ve heard people I know say pretty well that they can’t date a funny woman,” radio host Sam Roberts admitted to the female comedian.

“Let’s face it,” Cummings retorted. “There’s a difference between funny people and people who think they’re funny.”

The prankster, who recently self-financed her fifth Netflix special, went on to explain her annoyance to people who were “always on” and force the jokes, arguing that people wouldn’t be so annoyed if they were dating someone who knew how to really laugh.

“You don’t want a girl doing things at Applebees,” agreed fellow comedian Jim Norton.

Cummings would know what makes a funny woman – she is hailed as the queen of comedy and is currently on her “TOUCH ME” stand-up tour, spanning 50 cities in North America.

As for the love life of Cummings herself, the producer of “JOKES” is currently in a long-term relationship with Alex Barnes, a veterinarian she met during the onset of the pandemic. While performing on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan, she revealed that she met Barnes by chance when she brought her dog in for a visit.

Prior to dating Barnes, who is eight years younger, Cummings was with advertising director Miles Skinner. The couple had been together for over a year before the comedian announced their split on her podcast “Good for You”.

The 39-year-old, who originally got her start on MTV’s “Punk’d,” also took the time to air to share some of her most underrated comedians, including former SNL member Jim Breuer and Boston comedian Paul Nardizzi.

Cummings’ latest special, “Whitney Cummings: JOKES,” was released this week and is available for streaming on Netflix.
