Tori Spelling teaches her children to take the main road.
The mother of five revealed to People magazine that one of her children had a rough start to the school year.
“My kids just went back to school and just when you think you made it through, one of my other kids was bullied on the first day of school,” Spelling, 49, told the outlet. “I was feeling with the one. We just got through it and we’re really working on building her confidence again and bringing her skills to the fore.”
Spelling has been candid about bullying her 14-year-old daughter, Stella, over the years, but knows that the “route” she takes with her other child may look a little different.
“Our kids have a lot to deal with,” she said, adding that even teachers have been scrutinizing her kids. “They deal with bullying from their peers personally, but then they deal with social bullying by adults, even other parents.”
However, that’s where the “Beverly Hills 90210” alum says she “draws the line.”
“I’ll say something every day of the week, I’ll get up and say something,” the actress continued. “It’s hard because we’ve been taught that professionals, or for children, adults, are experts in their field. They know better.”
Spelling went on to say that as a person who just wants “everyone to get along”, she had to step out of her “comfort zone” during this experience to support her children.
“You have to trust yourself as a parent because you become the biggest advocate of your children,” she told the outlet. “And that’s why I teach my children. I’m here for them now, but I want to teach them to be their own best lawyer when they grow up.”
While Tori didn’t reveal which of her five children — Beau, 5, Finn and Hattie, both 10, Stella, 14, and Liam, 15 — had to deal with bullies, she said she’s been dealing with it “day by day.”
Spelling shares all of her children with her husband, Dean McDermott, although the couple sparked rumors of divorce in the past year.
In October 2021, Spelling fueled split speculation when she was seen screaming outside a law firm with a notepad with the words “custody,” “support” and “assets” written on it.
Last week, however, the couple were spotted together for the first time in nearly a year stopping to pick up pizza.
The pair looked enamored as they flashed big smiles and their wedding rings — which they’d previously been spotted without.
The couple’s relationship seemingly took a turn for the worse in recent months, when McDermott, 55, flirted with Spelling on a July episode of her reality show, “@Home With Tori.”
Spelling and McDermott tied the knot in May 2006, just a year after meeting on the set of Mind Over Murder.
