Since OpenAI introduced its AI chatbot, ChatGPT, in November of 2016, the industry has witnessed an abrupt increase in generative AI chatbots. Google, a significant tech company, has also dipped its claws into this market by releasing a generative AI chatbot called Bard. Consequently, the current market leaders are OpenAI, Microsoft’s ChatGPT, and Google’s Bard. Both developers are striving to improve the capacities of the chatbots.
Microsoft has announced that it will incorporate ChatGPT into its MS Office Suite and Bing Search, whereas Google’s Bard is still in its infancy. Tech Today was able to compare the two AI chatbots to determine which is superior and why.
ChatGPT compared to Bard
Beginning with the user interface, the ChatGPT UI provides a great deal of information but appears more congested than the Bard UI. Bard from Google appears to have a significantly more refined user interface. However, this is entirely subjective and varies from individual to individual
The greatest limitation of ChatGPT was that the complete AI model had only been trained on datasets through September 2021. Therefore, if you use the AI chatbot, you will likely receive out-of-date and inaccurate responses. Here, Bard has a decisive advantage.
For instance, when asked if Pathaan is worth viewing, Bard provided three comprehensive responses, whereas ChatGPT stated that it is “an upcoming Indian film.”

Concerning performance, we attempted to issue a sophisticated command to both AI chatbots using the same internet speed and computer. Google’s Bard presented three revisions in less than 8 seconds, whereas ChatGPT provided a superior and more detailed response in real time. In terms of response time, ChatGPT, therefore, reigns supreme.
ChatGPT and Bard have distinct language model training. OpenAI’s ChatGPT is capable of producing a wide variety of text for numerous purposes, whereas Bard, which is based on LaMDA and designed to have more natural conversations, is capable of producing a broader range of text.
When asked, “How are you doing?” Bard replied, “I’m doing well, thank you for asking.” I am thrilled to be able to assist others with their duties and to expand my knowledge of the world. How is your day going?’ This appears to be a conversation with an actual person.
ChatGPT, on the other hand, responded to the same prompt as follows: “As an AI language model, I do not have feelings; however, I am well-functioning and ready to assist you with any queries or duties. How may I assist you today?
While both AI chatbots keep the conversation continuing, their approaches are vastly different.
Verdict
Google’s Bard has a significantly more up-to-date knowledge base than ChatGPT. OpenAI has trained ChatGPT through the year 2022. However, future developments for both chatbots are substantial, so we may see an even more intense competition between the two chatbots in the foreseeable future.
