Not every royal fan was happy to meet Meghan Markle.
On Saturday, Markle – who made a surprise appearance at Windsor Castle with her husband Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton – was captured by television cameras greeting people gathered to mourn Queen Elizabeth II.
Despite many reaching out to her, some informed her that she was not welcome.
As the 41-year-old ‘Suits’ actress walked past the line of people, two women refused to hold out their hands in front of her and even grinned at each other as she passed. A third even put on her sunglasses and held her phone in her hands to keep Markle from reaching for her.
However, the Duchess of Sussex made sure she still recognized them when she gently touched one of their arms.
After the rather awkward interaction, many people took to social media to express their joy at the ice-out.
“Lady in Blue and others ARE ALL OF US. They refuse to shake hands with Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Netflix.” wrote one person on Twitteras another added: “This speaks volumes. She needs to get back to California ASAP. You are really hated for your disrespect for the UK.”
“The lady in blue is my spirit animal!” read another tweet.
Despite the online trolling, many more came to her aid and beat the three women.
“What we see here shows that the Duchess of Sussex has dignity and integrity, while those who refuse to shake hands do not. They don’t have a political agenda with her because there can’t be, it’s their perception of her as a black person who rejected the royal family,” a Markle defender tweeted.
One teenage girl even made headlines when she was photographed hugging Markle.
The 14-year-old told reporters it was “the right thing to do” amid “everything that has happened” between the actress and the royal family.
On Saturday, Markle made a surprising comeback at Windsor Castle as she stood next to the new Prince and Princess of Wales after their grandmother passed away on Friday at the age of 96.
The four spent nearly an hour viewing a vast sea of floral arrangements laid outside Windsor Castle in honor of the late monarch. They also spent time chatting with the crowd that had gathered outside.
The outing marked the first time the two couples had all appeared in public together since Commonwealth Day on March 9, a performance marked by a distinctly uneasy atmosphere. We are told that William sent the invitation to his estranged brother and wife.
“We are all very grateful – both sides are putting everything aside for the Queen,” a royal source told Vidak For Congress exclusively.
