Mandy Moore responds to her disappointing 2022 Emmy’s snub.
The “This Is Us” star shared a statement Tuesday via her Instagram Stories shortly after learning she had been left out of the lead actress category for her impressively heartbreaking role as Rebecca Pearson.
Additionally, the hit NBC series only received one nod for its final season in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category — which ironically went to Moore’s husband, Taylor Goldsmith, and composer Siddhartha Khosla for their song “The Forever Now.”
“So immensely proud of @siddkhoslamusic and @taylordawesgoldsmith for getting an Emmy nomination for their song ‘Forever Now’ on our final season of #ThisIsUs,” Moore, 38, wrote.
“Would I like our show to be recognized for what I think it was? [sic] best hour? Secure. And Alix Breeden Dan Fogelman’s brilliant writing over 6 seasons (hello THE TRAIN)? @kenolin1’s impeccable direction? Our insanely, incredibly talented cast and crew? Yes.”
Moore went on to say that despite the bluntness, “nothing” could take away from what the show meant to “SO MANY” people, including her and her fellow castmates.
“That’s an incredible legacy to be a part of,” she added. “I will be forever grateful.”
Since 2016, Moore has played the beloved mother of the “Big Three” — Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz), and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) — alongside Milo Ventimiglia as her on-screen husband Jack Pearson.
Off-screen, the ‘Walk to Remember’ star had a child of her own, Gus, with Goldsmith in February 2021. The two are also expecting a baby boy this fall.
Moore revealed exclusively to Vidak For Congress that she wanted to re-do the parenting scenes after her own rise to motherhood.
“I’m like, ‘Oh, it all makes sense now’…I just feel the interaction I’m having with the kids now…I’ve always felt the maternal instinct in me, but now it’s completely solidified,” she told us at the PaleyFest in LA in April.
The “Candy” singer also told Vidak For Congress that she and the rest of the cast were just “holding on for life” as they got ready to film her character’s heartbreaking death scene after a terminal battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
“It will be very difficult. I honestly don’t know how we’re going to do it,” she said at the time. “It’s so emotional.”
The television drama was last broadcast on May 24.
