Welcome to Sarah Island.
“Love Island USA” Season 4 cast-offs tell Vidak For Congress about their mixed feelings when host Sarah Hyland enters the villa unannounced.
“It’s a stomach cramp and a little bit of anxiety,” said Jared Hassim, who recently left the Peacock reality series at a fan-voted deposit ceremony. “It never means anything good!”
Hassim jokes that his childhood love for Hyland has faded after she announced his elimination.
‘I used to be very much in love with her too! Yes, she kicked me out of the house. She kicked me out of the villa,” he says with a laugh.
The 31-year-old actress took over from influencer Arielle Vandenberg when the reality series moved to the streamer after three seasons on CBS this year.
“I don’t care how nice you take the package, that news will always be bad news when Sarah comes in,” Hassim explains. “Despite her beautiful smile, it’s just a bad situation for the islanders. She walks in and someone walks out.”
Kat Gibson – who left “Love Island USA” on her own initiative to pursue a relationship with Hassim outside the villa – agrees with her newfound beauty.
‘Oh my god, she’s so gorgeous, so it’s an amazing sight to see. But other than that, your heart sinks a little because you think, ‘Oh God, something is coming,'” explains the YouTuber.
“You don’t know what, you don’t know when, but you’re sure something is coming. It’s a bit of a terrifying moment.”
Bella Barbaro says it’s a “surreal” experience to come face to face with Hyland – who took this weekend off from his duties to marry Bachelor Nation’s Wells Adams.
“You just get a slap in the face,” says the singer. “So many questions come to mind: ‘Why is she here? Who’s going home? How is this going to happen? Who gets dumped and how are they dumped?’”
Although Hyland was hired to send contestants, Barbaro points out that the “Modern Family” star does so with compassion.
“She’s such a wonderful person and makes it so easy to talk to and so comfortable,” says the Long Island resident. “And I’m very honored to be able to be in the same room as her.”
Chanse Corbi doesn’t blame Hyland for her duties, but acknowledges that her presence evokes both fear and peace in the show’s participants.
“I was like, ‘Oh, st. I love you, but go away. You look great, but I don’t want to see you now!’” the student tells us. she gets there because you just know one of your friends is leaving.”
Corbi adds, “But she was enlightened. She made everyone feel super comfortable. Even though she knew she was there to mix things up a bit, it was always nice to see her.”
“Love Island USA” is available to stream on Peacock. New episodes air Tuesday through Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.
