Kelsea Ballerini has candidly said she has pulled the plug on her marriage to Morgan Evans, calling the decision “rough”.
As previously reported, Vidak For Congress confirmed in August that Ballerini filed for divorce from Evans after nearly five years of marriage.
While promoting her new album “Subject to Change,” the 29-year-old singer told CBS Mornings that her decision to divorce didn’t come overnight.
“I think when there’s such a big decision in life, it’s not sudden,” the hitmaker said “Half of my Hometown.”
“A lot will happen before that becomes public. So I’m on my, like, active healing journey. A lot of that is showing up for this album and appearing for myself like I never have.
“It’s rough, it’s not chaotic. It’s not that volatile, it just didn’t work,” she explained. “And that’s a hard story to get your head around sometimes when you’re thinking, ‘Oh my god. This is a good person. And I am a good person. And this just isn’t right anymore.’”
Ballerini admitted that she is “really proud” of herself for getting through the challenges of the divorce.
‘I am a peacemaker. We’ve talked about this before. I am a pleaser. So doing something that goes against those two things is really hard,” she said. “And I’m really proud of myself.”
Ballerini and Evans, 37, tied the knot in December 2017 after getting engaged a year earlier. For his part, Evans said via his own Instagram Stories that he was “very sad” to confirm the breakup.
