Jwan Yosef broke his silence on Ricky Martin’s cousin’s incest claims hours after the case was dropped.
“Truth prevails,” the 37-year-old painter wrote in an Instagram selfie with his 50-year-old husband.
Yosef, who shares twins Matteo and Valentino, 13, as well as Lucia and Ren, both 3, with Martin, last posted on social media on July 11.
The singer, for his part, spoke in a video message on Thursday about the beginning of healing from the “devastating” allegations.
“For two weeks I was not allowed to defend myself because I was going through a procedure, where the law … obliged me not to speak until I went to trial,” Martin said.
“Thank God these claims have been proven wrong, but I’m going to tell you the truth, it’s been so painful… for me, for my family, for my friends,” he continued. “I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.”
That same day, the Grammy winner prepared to testify at a hearing for a protection order filed against him — only for Dennis Yadiel Sanchez to withdraw his claims.
The 21-year-old, the son of Martin’s half-sister Vanessa Martin, claimed earlier this month that he had been in a relationship with his uncle for seven months.
Sanchez also claimed that Martin stalked him at his house when they broke up.
Ricky denied all of his claims at the time, calling them “false” and “disgusting.”
“Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with serious mental health issues,” Ricky’s attorney, Marty Singer, wrote in a July 15 statement. “Ricky Martin, of course, has never – and never would have been – involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.”
On Thursday, the singer of “Livin’ La Vida Loca” wished his cousin “the best”.
“I wish he found the help so that he can start a new life full of love, truth and joy and not hurt anyone else,” the songwriter said.
