Ricky Martin denies having ‘sexual relationship’ with cousin

Ricky Martin denies shocking allegations from a relative that he had an incestuous relationship with his cousin for seven months.

The attorney for the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer, Marty Singer, told Deadline in a statement Friday that Martin has never had “any sexual or romantic relationship with his cousin.”

The statement continued: “Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with serious mental health issues. Ricky Martin, of course, has never – and never would have been – involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his cousin. The idea is not only false, it is disgusting.

“We all hope this man gets the help he so desperately needs. But above all, we look forward to seeing this appalling case dropped as soon as a judge can look at the facts.”

Earlier this month, a domestic-violence-related restraining order was filed in Puerto Rico against Martin, 50, but the alleged victim’s name was not made public.

However, the musician’s brother, Eric, alleged on Friday to Spanish publication Marca that Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, Martin’s 21-year-old cousin, is the alleged victim.

Martin’s brother also claimed that the Grammy winner “practiced physical and psychological attacks” on Sanchez, with whom he was in a relationship for seven months.

Martin previously denied the allegations of domestic violence, calling them “completely false and fabricated.”

“As it is an ongoing legal matter, I am unable to make detailed statements at this time,” he said wrote in a statement on July 3 “I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity and I receive them with all my heart.”

A hearing related to the domestic violence allegations is scheduled for July 21 in Puerto Rico. Under Puerto Rican law, Martin could face up to 50 years in prison on “incest charges” if the charges prove true.

Martin is currently facing a new lawsuit from his on-again, off-again manager, Rebecca Drucker, over alleged unpaid commissions amounting to $3 million.

Drucker claimed in the lawsuit, filed in the Los Angeles Central District Court on June 29, that she helped protect her former client from a “potentially career-ending charge” in September 2020, but did not elaborate on the incident.
