Jonah Hill cuts ties between him and his fans.
The ‘Superbad’ star deleted his Instagram account this week, but it’s unclear whether he deleted it before or after his candid letter about his nearly 20-year battle with anxiety attacks.
Hill’s Instagram mainly shared images of his surfer-bro lifestyle, accolades for his sister, Beanie Feldstein, as well as the occasional photo of his girlfriend, Sarah Brady; however, now that he has shared his mental health issues, he said he will no longer appear in the media.
“I have come to the realization that I have experienced anxiety attacks for nearly 20 years, which are exacerbated by media appearances and public events,” Hill, 38, wrote in a statement to Deadline Wednesday about his lack of promotion for his upcoming documentary, “ Stutz,” detailing his mental health issues.
The ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ star said the decision not to promote the film was an ‘important step’ in protecting herself from the pressures of living in the public eye.
“If I made myself sicker by going out and promoting it, I wouldn’t be true to myself or to the movie,” he explained. “With this letter and with ‘Stutz’ I hope to make it more normal for people to talk and act about this.
“So that they can take steps to feel better and so that the people in their lives can better understand their problems.”
Hill last walked the red carpet for the December 2021 premiere of his Netflix movie “Don’t Look Up,” where Brady was by his side.
