Jon Gosselin has claimed that his ex-wife, Kate, stole $100,000 from their children, but the reality star claims she merely “borrowed” the money.
In legal documents obtained by The Sun, the “Kate Plus 8” star admitted to making two separate $50,000 withdrawals from two of her children’s trusts, but said it was “for survival.”
In the 2019 lawsuit, Kate alleged that the assets of Hannah’s and Collin’s accounts were used to “pay her and the children’s expenses,” but she ended up buying a $750,000 lake house in North Carolina that same year.
“It’s disgusting and morally wrong,” Jon told The Sun.
“Parents are not allowed to withdraw money from these accounts without authorization and without preparing paperwork that they will pay it back – but she has not made any paperwork and no payments have been made.
“You can’t just live off your kids’ money,” he added.
In the documents, Kate also claimed that her eight children actually owed her money because she paid their private school fees out of her pocket.
“So I mean, I don’t plan to collect that, but I borrowed $100,000 from the Children’s Fund,” she claimed on the file. “And it technically owes me $387,000.”
Jon claims Kate has still not repaid Hannah or Collin’s trusts, despite a judge ruling that she must make plans to do so.
Kate’s lawyer declined to comment on The Sun when asked about the allegations.
Although the former couple shares eight children, Jon previously said he is only in a relationship with Hannah and Collin.
“[Communicating with] the kids living with Kate is very difficult because I don’t have an open relationship with them,” the “Jon & Kate Plus 8” alum told ET in celebration of his sextuplets turning 18 on May 10.
“[Kate] alienated me from those kids. I think it was a bad parenting decision,” he claimed, adding, “It would have been much better if she had been more open with them and explained things better.”
While Hannah and Collin have been living with their father since August 2021, Alexis, Aaden, Joel and Leah live with Kate.
Jon – who also shares 21-year-old twins Cara and Madelyn with Kate – said he is finally feeling “free” after ending his years-long custody battle with his ex.
“I am free in the aspect that I now have grown children. I have my own businesses and now it’s time for me to move on,” explained Jon.
