Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have had two engagements and are preparing for their second marriage — and now they each have a few new kids to name their own.
Before they secretly tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022, Lopez and Affleck were married to other people with whom they started a family.
The “Let’s Get Loud” singer was married to Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014 and welcomed twins Max and Emme in 2008.
Meanwhile, the ‘Argo’ actor, director and producer was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018. They welcomed their first daughter, Violet, in 2005, their second daughter, Seraphina, in 2009 and their son, Samuel, in 2012.
Now that Bennifer is back for the long haul, they are merging their families.
Here’s what we know about the five children from Lopez and Affleck’s previous marriages.
Maximilian David Muniz
Max, Lopez’s only son, was born on February 22, 2008, along with his twin sister Emme.
The teen bears a striking resemblance to his father, with Lopez even once calling him a “mini-Marc.”
“Emme is like a mini-me; Max really is a mini Marc. They are complete opposites,” she told Latin Times (via SCMP) in 2015.
Max has indicated that he aspires to be an actor and will make his film debut in his mother’s 2022 romantic comedy ‘Marry Me’. According to the actress, it took her son a lot of family encouragement to take the gig, but he fell in love with it immediately.
“They encouraged him by saying, ‘Do it, do it, you’re going to enjoy it,’” Lopez told El Gordo y la Flaca (via Hola!), adding, “He had a great time and he wants to do it. the lake. He wants to be an actor.”
Max is noticeably calmer than his twin brother, who has followed in their parents’ footsteps to become a singer.
“It’s not that he’s shy, but I think he wants to be more of a voice actor because he has a very different voice and he can voice very different,” Lopez explained in the same interview. “But he will do what he wants.”
A source told In Touch Weekly in June 2021 that Max and Affleck have bonded over “movies and video games.”
Emme Maribel Muniz
Emme — who Lopez revealed goes by “they/them” pronouns — is Max’s twin brother and a singer who took the stage with their mom during the 2020 Super Bowl intermission.
“It was insane that it happened because, you know, it’s not very common for someone my age to be on that stage,” Emme told “Entertainment Tonight” of the moment. “It was a crazy experience, but it was all a lot of fun because my boyfriend was there at the Super Bowl with me. She danced, and yes, it was really great.”
Emme previously went viral with her cover of Alicia Keys’ 2003 hit “If I Ain’t Got You.”
In addition to their music ambitions, the teen is also an author and writes the children’s book “Lord Help Me: Inspiring Prayers for Every Day,” which was published in 2020 and became a New York Times bestseller.
Whether Emme sticks to music, literature, or both, Lopez has sworn to stand behind her child.
“Listen, if… [they were] I’m going to do it, there’s nothing I can do to stop [them],” she told “Entertainment Tonight” in 2019 about Emme. “I know that because I’m an artist myself. No one can stop me from doing what I love. [They are] going to do it. But I would never push [them] in any direction. I would always help [them] as much as I can and give [them] as much counsel and advice as I can and mentor in the best ways I know how to navigate.”
Violet Affleck
Affleck and Garner’s oldest daughter, Violet, was born on December 1, 2005.
The teen is the spitting image of her mother and even shares “similar personality traits, such as their passion for cooking,” a source told In Touch Weekly in 2019, adding that Violet is “a real mama’s girl.”
Affleck gushed about his daughter’s fluency in Spanish during an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in 2020.
“She has always been a very good student and she was interested in Spanish, so I often helped her. Now she’s suddenly in the class where she’s in the more difficult Spanish classes and she’s getting better,” he said. “She’s right at the point where I think she could pass me.
“I was like, ‘No. This isn’t happening,'” he added with a laugh. “I don’t mind if I can’t do your math homework when you’re 14 years old, but you won’t be any better at Spanish than I am. So I’ve decided I should take classes now. I have to do something to keep up.”
Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck
Seraphina, born on January 6, 2009, is the second daughter of the actor “Gone Girl” and the star “13 Going on 30”.
She reportedly has a bold personality, with a source telling In Touch: “Seraphina is cute and super outgoing. She has a more mischievous streak than the other two and is incredibly close to Ben.”
Seraphina and her younger brother, Samuel, also reportedly have a “unique bond.”
“The two spend hours together playing. They sometimes bicker like all siblings, but in general they get along very well,” a source once said.
Violet and Seraphina are also huge fans of Taylor Swift and were speechless when they met the singer, according to Affleck’s “Kelly Clarkson Show” interview.
Samuel Garner Affleck
Samuel is the youngest of the Affleck-Garner brood, born on February 27, 2012.
According to his father, he loves baseball and has become quite good at it.
“I’m a coach of the Little League team and it’s going great,” Affleck said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2019. “He’s great, it’s a lot of fun.”
However, Samuel isn’t very good at driving, as he made headlines in June 2022 when he was photographed supporting a Lamborghini SUV in a BMW while Affleck and Lopez were buying cars in Los Angeles.
The preteen immediately exited the vehicle to check both cars. Affleck did the same, comforting Samuel with a hug after the accident.
