Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be moving from Montecito, California, to the Hope Ranch community.
The Santa Barbara News-Press reported Friday that the couple was “hunting” for a new place because theirs was no longer “properly housing”.[s]” them.
Hope Ranch is a private community about 10 miles from Montecito, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved in March 2020 with their son Archie, now 3.
Since living in California, the couple welcomed daughter Lilibet, 1.
The family of four’s potential new neighborhood will not only have a country club and members’ golf club, but will also provide access to tennis courts, picnic areas and a network of bridleways (via Daily Mail.)
Homes in the area can reportedly cost up to $22 million. It’s unclear whether the former military pilot, 38, and his wife, 41, have already bought a new place there or are just looking.
The duo’s alleged relocation attempts come two months after news broke that their home was the victim of multiple intruders in May.
Harry and the “Suits” alum recently returned to California after flying across the pond for multiple charity events in August — and spent most of September after the unexpected passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Duke rushed to the monarch’s side at Balmoral, Scotland, when she was placed under “medical supervision” on September 8, but Her Majesty died before his arrival.
He and the “Deal or No Deal” alum stayed in England for the late Sovereign’s funeral on September 19, and flew home shortly after the service.
Before their visit came to an end, however, the couple made headlines for many rare interactions with Prince William, Kate Middleton, King Charles III and more family members.
Tensions have been high since the couple left the royal family in January 2020 and made their departure official in February of the following year.
Oprah Winfrey expressed hope last month that the royal family can find peace in their mourning period, calling Elizabeth’s death a chance for recovery.
“When all the families come together for a common ceremony, the ritual of, you know, burying your dead, there’s a chance to make peace,” the journalist, 68, explained to Extra.
Later that same month, Winfrey’s friend Gayle King told the outlet that “attempts have been made on both sides to make amends,” but whether there will be a cure remains to be seen.[n].”
The 67-year-old CBS This Morning host added: “I’ll tell you this: it was good to see Harry with his family.”
