Former Nick star Josh Peck calls Jeanette McCurdy ‘incredibly brave’

Josh Peck is proud of his fellow Nickelodeon Aluminum friend Jeanette McCurdy for writing her book “I’m Glad My Mom Died.”

“I think she’s incredibly brave to tell her story and to be as honest as she is,” the “Drake & Josh” star told Vidak For Congress in a recent interview.

“I think one of her great talents is her humor and how thoughtful she is and as soon as I could grab the book I did because I really wanted to see how she told her story.”

The recently released memoir of the ‘iCarly’ star – as the title suggests – delves into the complicated relationship she had with her mother, who controlled her every move and forced her daughter to become a child actor. McCurdy’s mother died of cancer in 2013 when the star of “Sam & Cat” was 21.

Last week, Peck posted a sweet photo of himself on Instagram hugging McCurdy and captioning: “My friend Jennette wrote a book and it’s out today. She is brave, funny and thoughtful in ways few are. Get it today!”

Peck’s own bar mitzvah was fitting for someone who started performing stand-up at Caroline’s on Broadway at the age of 10.

“My bar mitzvah involved me performing a medley of songs, a duet with my mom, and stand-up comedy for a whopping 45 minutes, so I guess it’s no surprise why I’m still in therapy to this day ,” he said with a laugh.
