Carlos Santana postpones six tour dates after stage collapse

Legendary rocker Carlos Santana postponed his tour to take care of his health after collapsing onstage during a performance in Michigan Tuesday night.

The ‘Smooth’ performer, 74, was taken off stage on a stretcher after being overcome by heat exhaustion and dehydration. He is now reportedly “doing well,” his representative said.

To make sure he feels like his normal self again, Santana is pushing six shows of his “Miraculous Supernatural” 2022 Tour with Earth, Wind & Fire “out of an abundance of caution to the artist’s health.”

“I am sorry to inform you that the Santana band has postponed tonight’s show at Ruoff Music Center Noblesville, Indiana,” Michael Vrionis, president of Universal Tone Management, said in a statement.

“And we’re postponing the July 9 show at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio; July 10 at American Family Insurance Amphitheater – Summerfest Grounds in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; July 12 at Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion in Rogers, Arkansas; July 15 at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas, Texas; July 16 at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Woodlands, Texas.”

“Doctors have recommended that Mr. Santana rest to make a full recovery,” Vrionis added.

The tour with Earth, Wind & Fire is scheduled for the end of August.

“Carlos is doing well and is eager to get back on the podium soon. He just needs rest,” Vrionis continued.

“Santana deeply regrets this postponement of his upcoming performances; but his health is our greatest concern. He is looking forward to seeing all his fans soon.”

According to his website, Santana has performed 32 performances since March 25.

According to Variety, he reportedly took some time off the road after undergoing an “unscheduled heart procedure” in December.
