ChatGPT is a free AI chatbot service, but there is a premium version called ChatGPT Plus. ChatGPT Plus features a faster response time, early access to the newest features, and access to the service during peak demand periods. But what if you have a ChatGPT Plus subscription and discover that it does not meet your needs?

How to terminate your ChatGPT Plus subscription
There are a few things you should know about how to cancel your ChatGPT Plus subscription. According to the official OpenAI assistance guide:
- The service cancellation is not immediate. Your ChatGPT Plus access expires “the day after the next billing date.” You will still have access to ChatGPT Plus’s premium features until that date.
- OpenAI says subscription fees “are nonrefundable.”
- If you do not want to be charged for the following month’s service, you must terminate your subscription at least 24 hours before the next payment date.
Additionally, it is worth noting that some users (such as this user on Reddit and these users on this page of the OpenAI API Community Forum) have reported having difficulties terminating their ChatGPT Plus subscriptions and ultimately being unable to do so.
How to stop using ChatGPT Plus
If you still need to cancel your ChatGPT Plus subscription, the process is straightforward. Simply follow the instructions below to cancel your account immediately.
Step 1: After logging into ChatGPT Plus, select My Account from the sidebar on the left side of the screen.
Step 2: Select Manage my subscription
Step 3: At this point, you should see a Stripe checkout page. Choose the Cancel plan option on this page. Following confirmation, ChatGPT Plus should now be canceled.
