Bethenny Frankel denounces Kardashians’ ‘reckless’ Photoshop use

Bethenny Frankel comes after the Kardashian relatives for their “destructive” Photoshop use.

The 51-year-old “Real Housewives of New York” told TMZ on Thursday that the reality stars’ social media uploads are “not fair to women who are just trying to make ends meet,” calling them “irresponsible” and “reckless.”

She added: “Mothers feel insecure. … They don’t have time to do all this [Photoshop]and they don’t even know how to do [with] the technology.”

Women “can’t compete” with Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and their sisters, Frankel continued.

“The more we see these images, the more we think they are real. It becomes a false ideal,” she explained. “It’s not inspiring, it’s not ambitious. It creates eating disorders, insecurity, depression. It’s serious business.”

The former Bravo personality advised the Kardashians to “wear some makeup” and “be honest” about their plastic surgery rather than “blatantly lie” about filtering and Photoshopping.

“The playing field is not leveling,” she continued. “When you’re already a billionaire, you have access to so much more…and people feel terrible about themselves.”

Frankel’s comments come days after she showed her Instagram followers a comparison of what she “really looks like” versus a filtered photo.

“This is NOT what I look like…and you know bc [sic] I’m not vain and show you my real me,” she wrote on Wednesday with the bikini photos.

Frankel called social media “distorted” and concluded, “There is a line between an attempt to look beautiful and an outright lie.”

Kim, 41, and more “Kardashians” stars have been credited with their Photoshop use in the past, with the creator of KKW Beauty most recently coming under fire for appearing to remove her trapezius muscle in a poolside photo.

As for Khloé Kardashian, who previously admitted to editing daughter True into a Disneyland photo, the 38-year-old team has been working hard to remove an airbrush-free bikini photo of her from the internet in April 2021.

Kylie, for her part, made headlines for having six toes in a manipulated post promoting her and Kim’s perfume collaboration in August 2019.

When Kourtney Kardashian was accused of a Photoshop faux-pas in February, she claimed the photo was a “fan edit” and removed it from her account.
