‘American Idol’ winner Just Sam hospitalized with unknown illness

Singer Just Sam, who rose to fame after winning “American Idol” in 2020, was hospitalized with an unknown illness.

The New York-based musician, whose real name is Samantha Diaz, rushed to her Instagram story to update fans on her health concerns.

Revealing that she was hospitalized on Wednesday, the 23-year-old – who won season 3 of the popular singing competition – cried for help in a cryptic post, but did not explain what brought her under the watchful eye of doctors.

“100 pounds is crazy. I really need help,” she captioned a photo of a scale. She later gave an update to concerned fans, telling them she was feeling better.

“I am grateful to everyone for the prayers. I’m much better now,” she told her 148K Instagram followers.

Things seemed to tie in on Wednesday when Sam revealed she was back home and said, “Thank you to everyone who checked me in. I’m ALIVE and out of the hospital.”

But unfortunately it didn’t last long.

Her health seemed to deteriorate when she was back in the hospital the next day.

“I need a better hospital. I hate it here. tbh,” she said.

The Harlem-born singer won the first outside final in “Idol” history — the long-running contest left the stage in 2020 ahead of the pandemic.

“My grandmother said she doesn’t believe that people like us can make their dreams come true,” she said earlier on the show. “This is the proof for her!”

“I kept pushing, kept singing and look where it got me. I hope to inspire all the little girls who believe that their dreams cannot come true. Anyone can do it.”
