All her most iconic outfits

It’s damn time for Lizzo to be the biggest hit on the red carpet.

The ‘Juice’ singer – whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson – released her first album ‘Lizzobangers’ in 2013, but exploded into stardom in 2019 with her hit single ‘Truth Hurts’.

While she was one of Hollywood’s most daring dressers from the beginning, she was also not shy about calling designers who refused to make plus-size clothes, saying in a 2019 interview, “If you don’t make clothes for me, and If you don’t want to make me clothes, I don’t want to wear you [designs].”

Lizzo continued at the time: “I look good in other” [things] anyway. But call me if you want to get me dressed. If you want to change the game and dress a fat body, give me a call.”

Soon, designers started calling in droves. For the past few years, Lizzo’s has been making best-dressed lists of looks from Moschino, Valentino, Versace and more. Below are some of her most iconic fashion moments to date.

The star radiated Old Hollywood glamor in a white strapless Versace gown with an embellished corset and thigh-high split.

“The inspo was ‘iconic status,'” the star’s stylist, Marko Monroe, told Vidak For Congress Style ahead of the awards ceremony. “I thought about the powerful, iconic women who have gone before her, and the images they’ve passed on when it comes to glamor – with a little Lizzo twist, of course. If you’re a lover of pop culture history, you understand the influences.”

Looks like a snack, indeed. Perhaps Lizzo’s craziest look is this Moschino dress, modeled after a Hersey’s bar wrapper. “She melts in your mouth, not on the red carpet,” the label’s designer, Jeremy Scott, captioned his Instagram photo of the star in her gorgeous-looking outfit.

Set alarm bells ringing for this siren, which went all out from Jessica Rabbit in scarlet Moschino sequins and feathers on the carpet. Lizzo even tweeted a famous line by the curvaceous cartoon character – “I’m not bad, I’m just so drawn” – to really bring the comparison home.

“‘Siren’ is such a beautiful word to describe her — and on a sexy, figure-hugging dress, it was just perfect,” Monroe told us in 2020. “The original dress was styled with this huge cape, and we thought of getting to do that, but I thought, ‘We need a feather boa moment.’”

Big personality, small wallet. Lizzo’s Little Valentino Bag Was “Big Enough For” [her] f-ks to give,” she joked on Instagram at the time, causing much hilarity on social media – including a parody Twitter account, @lizzostinybag.

Monroe previously told us that the small purse started out as an “inside joke” between the couple, explaining, “Every time we saw something on that scale, we sent pictures back and forth. I actually found that bag online and thought that it was a joke; months before the AMAs I contacted Valentino and asked, “Is this real?” Because I was going to get it for her birthday!”

Knock on wood! The superstar’s tree-inspired House of Holland get-together certainly went against the grain.

“I fell in love with the fabric and showed her and she said, ‘What if we made wood grain nails?’ And then I thought, ‘I can make boots with wood grain!’” Monroe recalls.

“I hand-dyed those boots to match. Also, a lot of people thought it was a hat she was wearing, but it’s actually made of her.”

In bright pink Marc Jacobs, Lizzo epitomized the gala’s ‘camp’ theme from head to toe.

“After [the Met]her manager and I were like, ‘What if you wore it to the airport?'” Monroe previously told us about the look, which was inspired by Shirley MacLaine’s character in the movie “What a Way to Go!” from 1964.

“And she said, ‘I’ll do it!’ So we filmed it and posted it.”

Lizzo was a neon dream in Christopher John Rogers, a designer with a special connection to the star.

“At first, because I have no connections and was just emailing, he was one of the few people who said, ‘Yeah, I’ll dress her! I love Lizzo, let’s work together,'” Monroe told us in 2020. “When everyone thought, ‘Who is this person?'”
