Actor Eugenio Derbez will undergo “very complicated” surgery after suffering an accident in recent days, his wife announced.

In a joint Instagram post, actress and singer Alessandra Rosaldo gave worried fans an update on her husband’s upcoming surgery, but she kept quiet about the accident he was involved in.

“He is doing well, but the injuries he sustained are delicate and will require surgery in the next few hours,” the Mexican soap star wrote in a statement to their more than 24 million combined followers.

Hailing from Mexico, the 60-year-old actor most recently appeared in Apple TV+’s comedy series “Acapulco,” after starring in this year’s Academy Award Best Picture winner “CODA.”

Derbez is best known for starring in some of the most popular Spanish-language TV shows of all time, including ‘Al Derecho y Al Derbez’, ‘XHDRBZ’ and ‘La Familia P. Luche’.

“The operation is very complicated, but it does not endanger his health,” his wife announced in Spanish.

“The recovery process will be long and difficult as he will need to rest for several weeks and then undergo rehabilitation therapies.”

In her statement, Rosaldo said it was important for them to share the news on their own terms.

“I have some work commitments that I can’t cancel, but I sincerely ask you all, that whatever you want to know about this topic, allow me to communicate it through my social networks,” she wrote. “Eugenio will recover and maybe he will be away from his social networks and the media for a while.”

“Thank you for always being close to us,” she continued, adding: “I know that Eugenio, with the good energy you will all send us and with the favor of God, will recover very quickly.”
