Kathy Griffin turned to her social media followers Monday to analyze her latest cancer scans after her doctors “ghosted” her.
“Ok I know this is crazy but I can’t get an oncologist on the phone and the surgeon who did half the lung removal made me a ghost,” the comedian, 61, wrote on Instagram alongside screenshots of her medical notes, adding, “this is what it is for people!”
She continued: “I’m posting my scan results on Instagram in the hopes that someone will put it under the nose of an oncologist and send me some sort of interpretation in English of what’s going on with my post-operative situation! Social media can be put to good use, damn it!”
The former reality star got some good news in her comment section when her followers in the medical field confirmed she was still cancer-free.
“That’s a pretty good report Kathy (as someone who worked in imaging),” wrote one follower.
“Focus on ‘without recurrence or metastasis’ It’s good news (from this old nurse lol),” added another.
Other fans focused more on the negligence of Griffin’s doctors.
“Shockingly irresponsible. I’m so sorry Kathy,” one fan added before another called the whole situation “bulls-t.”
In August 2021, the comedian revealed that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer and would undergo surgery to remove the malignant tumor.
“I have something to tell you. I have cancer. I’m about to have surgery to have half of my left lung removed,” she wrote on social media at the time. “Yes, I have lung cancer, even though I’ve never smoked! The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and my left lung is locked in.”
Following her surgery, which she described as “more than” she could have ever envisioned, Griffin announced in December 2021 that she was in remission.
“I’m cancer free,” Griffin stated. ‘I don’t know why, I had a tumor, didn’t I? And I’ve never smoked, and it’s been in there for 10 years.”
To celebrate, the former “Fashion Police” co-host went naked after her scan returned cancer-free six months after surgery.
