Is Casey Affleck’s son going to college?
The actor, 47, seemingly revealed Monday that his eldest child, Indiana, is leaving with an emotional Instagram post.
“The water gets deep, the sea is wide, the wind can pick up. You’ve seen it before. And while a ship is safest in port, ships aren’t made for that,” the Oscar winner captioned a throwback photo with the now 18-year-old.
“You’re ready for this,” Affleck continued. “You are uniquely wonderful, full of integrity, courage and kindness. You will be an improvement in the land of the ‘adults’.
“And if you go into the world with curious amazement and heartfelt gratitude, the world will (eventually) meet you with the same,” he continued.
The filmmaker told the teen that he will be “always here” for him, concluding, “Please remember that one of the best parts of any adventure is…coming home.…I love you.”
One of Affleck’s followers predicted that Indiana will love “the dorms” in college, while another added, “My son goes to college too.”
A third wrote: “The best part of parenting is seeing them come into their own. Letting go is the hardest.”
Affleck, who has not yet revealed whether Indiana is going to school or just moving, celebrated Indiana’s 18th birthday in June.
“I’ve always looked up to you,” he wrote alongside a hiking photo with the teen. “I think I always will. 18.”
The “Manchester By the Sea” star is also the father of son Atticus, 14, who he shares with his ex-wife, Summer Phoenix.
The former couple broke up in 2017 and Affleck has moved on with Caylee Cowan ever since.
“We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs this year, but how I feel for you has only gone in one direction,” the Golden Globe winner wrote of the 24-year-old actress during their January anniversary celebrations.
“I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve you, but I’m determined to find out and keep doing it forever,” he added at the time. “While it’s beating, you have a place in my heart. I hope you stay that long.”
The couple did not attend his brother Ben Affleck’s Georgia wedding to Jennifer Lopez this weekend.
Cowan wrote in a since-deleted Instagram comment that her partner was instead at son Atticus’ soccer practice. Casey then sent good wishes to his sister-in-law via Instagram.
“Welcome to the family. Get ready for some real dysfunction! Just kidding. I’m kidding,” he wrote on Sunday. “Jen, you’re a gem. We love you so much!”
