Jennifer Lopez may have married Ben Affleck and wore three different wedding dresses, but her latest movie role asked for much more.
In “Shotgun Wedding,” the trailer released on Tuesday, J.Lo and Josh Duhamel (who are also a real-life newlywed) play a bride and groom whose island wedding takes a dramatic turn when the entire party is taken hostage.
Israeli designer to the stars Galia Lahav collaborated with costume designer Mitchell Travers on the bespoke wedding gown — make that gowns — which carries Lopez’s character, Darcy, in the film.
“This high-octane action comedy had to make dozens of copies of the same dress. As the story changes from a perfect destination wedding to a hilarious chaotic adventure, so does Darcy’s gorgeous wedding dress,” the bridal brand shared in a press release.
“As a result, in just 1 month, Galia Lahav carefully constructed and created 28 dresses using special techniques and fabrics so that the dress could be adjusted, torn and transformed into a uniform fit for a glamor action hero.”
What starts out as an off-the-shoulder dress with a sweetheart neckline and billowy long sleeves, eventually turns into a mottled sleeveless creation with a DIY halter top.
Lahav has designed for a long list of famous brides, including Beyoncé and Paris Hilton. Olympian Simone Biles also said yes to two different Lahav dresses for her upcoming wedding to football player Jonathan Owens.
Still, 28 dresses must be a record.
“Shotgun Wedding” will be released on Amazon Prime Video on January 27, 2023.
