Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel celebrated his 55th birthday in Rome by dining with an unlikely guest: Helen Mirren.
The two actors were spotted at the famous Antica Pesa spot – which has a sister location in Brooklyn – where they were joined by one of the producers of their current movie, ‘Fast X’.
A spy told us exclusively: “Diesel wore a blazer, which he then took off to reveal a tank top, befitting the scorching temperatures.”
The spy said the stalwart “sit in the restaurant garden sipping red wine with Mirren, switching to prosecco for the birthday moment.”
We hear the stars and their party ordered Italian classics like cacio e pepe and smoked duck, and that “Diesel was surprised by the kitchen with his favorite cake, Victoria sponge.”
Said the Roman source: “They had a great time – it seems like Diesel and Mirren became good friends during the filming. As they sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him, he changed the lyrics to ‘Happy birthday, dear Helen’, because they his birthday is on July 26.’
Diesel’s birthday was Monday.
Mirren, 76, has previously said she asked Diesel, 55, for a part in the film when she saw him at a party, joking that she “introduced myself and shamelessly begged him to put me in one of his movies. ”
Mirren must be happy to finally be part of the family. She’s also been spotted tenderly touching Diesel’s face on set while filming their upcoming action epic.
