Taylor Swift announced at the 2022 MTV VMAs Sunday that she will be releasing a new album in October.
“I thought it would be a nice moment to tell you that my brand new album will be out on October 21,” said the 32-year-old singer of “All Too Well” as he took home the VMA award for Video of the Year. .
She then teased, “I’ll tell you more at midnight.”
An official countdown has been posted on the Grammy winner’s website that reads below a ticking clock: “Meet me at midnight.”
It’s unclear if Swift will release a brand new album or another re-recorded version.
However, fans have suspected since earlier in the evening that the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer had hinted at that she plans to re-release her 2017 album, “Reputation.”
Taking home the award for Best Longform Video at Sunday’s awards ceremony, Swift said it was “an indication we did something right” — a rule her Swifties know all too well.
One Twitter user noted the resemblance to a lyric from Swift’s “Reputation” song “Call It What You Want,” in which she repeats, “I did one thing right.”
“WE DID SOMETHING RIGHT????? SHE GIVES EASTER EGGS EVERYWHERE,” the viewer wrote next to a clip from the superstar’s acceptance speech.
Fans were totally convinced that Swift gave them yet another clue when she showed off her sparkly ensemble for the VMAs on TikTok with Blackpink’s song “Pink Venom”.
Swifties believe “venom” was a nod to the snake imagery the singer used in the “Look What You Made Me Do” music video and set design for her “Reputation” stadium tour.
