Homer Laffoon, the son of Anne Heche, hopes his mother will be “pain-free” after her untimely death.
“My brother Atlas and I have lost our mother. After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness,” he said in a statement to Vidak For Congress.
“Hopefully my mother is free from pain and begins to discover what I like to envision as her eternal freedom. In those six days, thousands of friends, family and fans have expressed their hearts to me,” he continues.
“I am grateful for their love, as well as for the support of my father, Coley and my stepmother Alexi, who have remained my rock during this time. Rest in peace Mom, I love you, Homer.”
Heche – who died Friday a week after her fatal car accident at age 53 – shared Homer, 20, with ex-husband Coleman “Coley” Laffoon. The couple was married from 2001 to 2009.
Heche also shared 13-year-old son Atlas Heche Tupper with her “Men in Trees” co-star, James Tupper.
The actress was involved in a serious accident on August 5, which left her in a coma and burned so badly that she required surgery.
On Thursday evening, Heche’s representative told Vidak For Congress that she was “not expected to survive”.
She had suffered “severe anoxic brain injury” as a result of the wreckage and remained “in a coma” at Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital and Medical Center in California.
“It’s long been her choice to donate her organs,” her spokesperson said in part, explaining that she was “held on life support to determine if any are viable.”
The ‘Disappeared’ star ‘went unconscious and fell into a coma’ after her blue Mini Cooper collided with a house in Los Angeles last Friday.
In addition to severe burns, Heche’s spokesperson told us she had “suffered a significant lung injury requiring mechanical ventilation.”
Los Angeles police reportedly determined that Heche was under the influence of cocaine at the time of the crash.
In a 2017 interview with “Access Hollywood,” Heche said she hoped to be remembered for making a positive impact on her sons.
“Since the movie is called ‘The Last Word’ and given what it’s about, what do you hope people would say about you in terms of the last words?” a producer asked the star at the premiere of her movie.
“Oh…Oh lord oh lord…,” she said, making a prayerful gesture. “Hopefully I’ve made my kids happy…give them a life they love.”
