Sarah Michelle Gellar got strict with Howard Stern for once and claimed that her marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr. would not hold.
“@HowardStern what do you think?!?” Gellar posted a series of screenshots on her Instagram story on Thursday from an interview in which the SiriusXM host made the baseless statement to her husband in 2001.
During the sit-down, Stern notoriously bet $1 million that Prinze and the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum would divorce.
Gellar, who celebrated her 20th wedding anniversary to the actor on Thursday, cheekily added in another slide: “@HowardStern, I think you owe us.”
The infamous interview took place nearly a year before Prinze and Gellar, now 46 and 45 respectively, tied the knot.
Stern, 68, boldly asked the “She’s All That” star at the time, “So you’re going to marry Sarah Michelle Gellar, even though you know it won’t be long?”
Prinze confidently replied, “Oh, it will definitely last.”
Stern then insisted, “Do you think you know everything?” to which the ‘Scooby-Doo’ actor admitted, ‘No, I won’t.’
The radio host continued: “Do you think? [you’re] are you going to know how you feel at 35? You become a very different man.”
But Prince Jr. doubled up and said, “And she’ll be a whole different woman, but that’s all right.”
Stern replied by hedging a bet against their love, “I want to make a written bet with you. In about 10 years you’re going to hunt me down and say, ‘Howard, I owe you money.'”
Prinze jokingly agreed and said, “OK.”
On Thursday, the “Freddie” star joined his wife in trolling Stern and reposted the interview to his own Instagram story with the caption: “She won’t forget 😂.”
It looks like Stern would have to pay a hefty sum of money to the happily married couple as they surpassed his prediction by 10 years.
Gellar and Prinze said ‘I do’ in September 2002 and welcomed two children: Charlotte (12) and Rocky (10).
The actress celebrated their milestone birthday on Thursday by posting a black and white photo from their wedding day in which her husband kisses her hand as she smiles and looks lovingly into his eyes.
“20 💫,” she simply wrote in the post’s caption.
“Happy anniversary golden couple. So much love,” Selma Blair, co-star of “Cruel Intentions,” wrote in the comment section of the post.
“Happy Birthday❤️❤️❤️,” Jason Behr wrote.
“Congratulations! ❤️❤️❤️”, added Spanx founder Sara Blakely.
Gellar and Prinze met on the set of the 1997 horror film ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’, although they didn’t start dating until three years later.
They are clearly still very much in love, as they regularly show a lot of PDAs – even if their children are against it.
It is unclear whether Stern will continue to pay. His representative did not immediately respond to Vidak For Congress’s request for comment.
