Prince William has been criticized on social media for his treatment of Kate Middleton during their royal walk with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Saturday.
Royal fans were surprised and excited over the weekend when the ‘Fab Four’ reunited outside Windsor Castle.
The family members greeted the benefactors and admired floral arrangements and cards left in honor of the Queen, who died Thursday at the age of 96.
When the two couples left and got into the same car, social media users were upset about the brothers’ distinctly different behavior.
As they prepared to leave, Harry bravely opened the door for his 41-year-old wife, who thanked her in the mouth.
The Duke of Sussex, 37, then closed the door behind the “Suits” alum before going around the other side of the car to enter himself.
The former military pilot’s chivalrous demeanor was in stark contrast to his older brother, who didn’t bother opening the car door for Middleton, 40.
“#PrinceHarry always protects his precious better half #MeghanMarkle ❤️ A prince through and through 🤴🏻,” gushed one Twitter user.
Another commented, “I love how Harry opened the door for his wife and made sure she was in the car before getting in the car himself. A real gentleman 🥰♥️”.
“Prince Harry opens and closes the door for his wife, Princess Diana would be proud,” says a third person tweeted.
Royal watchers also tore William, 40, for the yawning chasm between him and Middleton when they first stepped out of the car, compared to their hand-holding distance from Harry and Markle.
“Where In Hell Is” #Catherine?” wrote one social media user. “A picture is worth a thousand words! What a distance between her and her husband. Such a big gap! did #Kate walk for her husband #Prince William? Uncomfortable!”
The foursome’s unexpected appearance marked the first time the two couples have all been photographed together in public since a Commonwealth Day service on March 9, 2020.
William made the invitation at the “eleventh hour” to his estranged brother and sister-in-law. according to royal reporter Omid Scobie.
Scobie adds that the invitation was “without a doubt an important moment in the history of the relationship between the two brothers.”
