Prince Harry bluntly wipes military uniform for Queen's funeral 1

Prince Harry will wear a morning suit to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral after being banned from wearing his military uniform.

“Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex will wear a morning suit at events honoring his grandmother,” a Sussex spokesman said in a statement to Vidak For Congress on Tuesday.

“His decade of military service is not defined by the uniform he wears and we respectfully request that attention continue to be paid to the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”

Vidak For Congress previously revealed that Harry – who served in the military for 10 years – was “saddened” to learn the possibility that he would not wear his uniform at the Sept. 19 funeral.

The 37-year-old was stripped of his military titles when he and wife Meghan Markle, 41, retired from royal life in 2020 and moved to California.

Supporters of the royal family took to social media to share their outrage over the decision not to let Harry wear the uniform – especially as the disgraced Prince Andrew was allowed to wear a uniform on Monday while he stood guard at St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh “as a special mark of respect for Her Majesty.”

“The whole world is watching as the ‘Tone Deaf’ British Royal ‘Family’ Prince Harry, who served in the army for 10 years and 2 Tours in Afghanistan, is denied the opportunity to wear a military uniform during his grandmothers [sic] Funeral…Wow,” one user tweeted.

“Prince Harry is the only royal who stood on the front lines defending our country. He has been refused to wear his uniform while the rest of his family shows off sanctimonious military suits and insignia, INCLUDING Prince Andrew. It is clear that it [sic] easier to be an ap*edophile. Shocking,” wrote another.

“Deplorable! Prince Harry denied the right to wear a military uniform at the Queen’s funeral, but can Prince Andrew discredit the Royal Navy and the Royal Family? Harry has an impeccable military record, supporting wounded war veterans and founding #InvictusGames!” added another.

Prince Harry served two tours in Afghanistan and eventually rose to captain. He received at least three medals for his decade of service. After his departure from the royal family, he lost three military honors.

The last time he was seen in uniform was at the Mountbatten Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall in London in March 2020.

The Royal Family will be joined by other world leaders and dignitaries to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on September 19. The Queen died on September 8 at the age of 96.
