Olivia Wilde begged Shia LaBeouf to stay on “Don’t Worry Darling” in a video that leaked Friday, just two days after the director claimed she fired the film’s former lead.
An admittedly “sweaty” Wilde, 38, spoke while riding in the 2020 selfie video, explaining to LaBeouf, 36, that she had just ridden a horse.
“I wanted to get in touch because I feel like I’m not ready to give this up yet,” she said. “I’m also heartbroken and I want to figure this out.”
The director of ‘Booksmart’ further hinted at a disagreement between LaBeouf and the film’s lead actress, Florence Pugh.
“I think this might be a bit of a wake-up call for Miss Flo, and I want to know if you’re open to trying this with me, with us,” she said.
“If she’s really committed, if she’s really putting her heart and heart into it right now, and if you two can make peace — and I respect your point of view, I respect hers — but if you can do it, what do you do? you think?” Wanted to go further.
The “House” alum ended by repeatedly asking the actor if there was “hope”, asking that he “let” [her] know” his decision.
The leaked footage comes after Wilde told Variety that the “Even Stevens” alum had been removed from the project and replaced by her now-boyfriend, Harry Styles, in order to keep other cast members “safe” from his “combative energy”.
LaBeouf hit back at her allegations in an email to Variety Thursday and also sent magazine screenshots of texts Wilde reportedly sent him in August 2020 after expressing a desire to quit.
“It doesn’t feel right to say no to someone, and I respect your honesty,” Wilde wrote in one text. “I’m gutted because it could have been something special.”
LaBeouf claimed he “officially” quit the day after he received that message, which was reportedly sent on Aug. 16.
Now, the former Disney Channel star is asking Wilde to correct her previous allegations, writing in the email published Friday that the “OC” alum has made it “more difficult” for him to “get out of it.” hole” he’s dug amid past scandals.
The ‘Honeyboy’ star, who was charged with abuse in 2021 and has since sought treatment, explained: “This situation with your film and my ‘firing’ will never have a court date to deal with the facts. If lies are enough in the repeated publicly, they become truth.
“Nobody was ever fired, Olivia,” LaBeouf continued. “And while I fully understand the appeal of pushing that story because of the current social landscape, the social currency that comes with it. It’s not the truth.”
“Don’t Worry Darling” hits theaters September 23.
