Olivia Wilde believes ex-partner Jason Sudeikis tried to aggressively embarrass and “threaten” her when she was publicly presented with legal papers at an April panel.
Wilde alleges Sudeikis used “excessive legal tactics”, according to new court documents obtained by the Daily Mail on Wednesday.
“Jason’s actions were clearly intended to threaten and catch me off guard,” Wilde, 38, claimed on the file. “He could have served me discreetly, but instead he chose to serve me in the most aggressive way.”
The “Booksmart” director went on to claim that Sudeikis, 46, was deliberately trying to disclose their personal affairs to the public in a way that is not fair to their two children: Otis, 8, and Daisy, 5.
“The fact that Jason would embarrass me professionally and make our personal conflict public in this way is extremely against the best interests of our children,” Wilde argued. “Since Jason has made it clear that for the sake of our children we cannot resolve this outside of the legal system, I have filed for custody in Los Angeles.”
Notably, the “Ted Lasso” star served Wilde child custody legal documents while onstage in front of nearly 4,000 people at CinemaCon.
Vidak For Congress reported at the time that Wilde was mortified and confused.
“Olivia was confused when she handed the envelope, and she was even more confused when she opened it,” the source told us, adding: “It seemed unthinkable to her, and it took a while to go through, but just as humiliating as it was, she wouldn’t comment.”
However, a source close to Sudeikis had insisted on telling Vidak For Congress solely that he had “no foreknowledge of the time or place the envelope would have been delivered… [Wilde] served in such an inappropriate manner.”
Sudeikis and Wilde had been co-parenting their children since they called off their engagement and split in 2020, but the actor decided to battle over custody when the duo couldn’t agree on a permanent city to raise their children. .
In court documents, Wilde alleges that the duo agreed to send their children to school in LA for the next year, as Sudeikis was due to film the final season of “Ted Lasso” in London.
“Recently, however, Jason decided that he wanted to go to New York for the next year while he was not working, and he wanted the kids to be there with him during this time off,” the actress claimed. “When I disagreed, since the kids haven’t lived in New York for a number of years, Jason filed these papers.”
Sudeikis fired back in a court statement, saying that their Brooklyn home has always been the family’s permanent residence and that Wilde is trying to make a quick decision by insisting their children live in LA.
“For better or worse, I’m a New Yorker,” Sudeikis said in the application, adding that it was best for their kids to grow up in Brooklyn.
He added that he was reluctant to take legal action against Wilde but feared she would take their children from him after allegedly telling him she would leave their children alone on weekends and holidays. see if he isn’t permanently in LA and that she also reportedly had plans to move to London, where her boyfriend, Harry Styles, lives.
Sudeikis further claimed that the legal documents had to be served on Wilde at an airport or at her hotel. But after several failed attempts, she was found at the event thanks to a tweet in which the process server handed her the confidential envelope.
“I understand that the process server was just doing its job; however, I deeply regret what happened. Olivia’s speech was an important event for Olivia, both professionally and personally, and I am very, very sorry that the incident marred her special moment,” Sudeikis said.
Wilde has been dating Styles since January 2021. Meanwhile, Sudeikis is romantically linked to model Keeley Hazell.
