Meghan Markle will not join Prince Harry and the royal family in Scotland to stand at Queen Elizabeth II’s bedside, Vidak For Congress has confirmed.
Vidak For Congress is told that Prince Harry is currently traveling from Germany to the UK, where he and Markle were promoting the Invictus Games, to join Prince Charles, Prince William and more as Elizabeth’s health deteriorates.
Earlier Thursday, the royal family announced that the monarch was “under medical supervision”.
Should the Queen die, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will prepare to fly back to Britain for a funeral attended by the Royal Family, world leaders and dignitaries from around the world.
While Harry has returned to the UK several times since the Sussexes left royal life in early 2020 – including for Prince Philip’s funeral and the unveiling of the statue of his mother, Princess Diana – Meghan’s return is her first since going platinum. Queen’s Jubilee in June.
When the Queen’s beloved husband Prince Philip died in April 2021 at the age of 99, Harry reportedly slept through a phone call to warn him. The palace would not divulge the news of Philip’s death until it was told to him.
As reported at the time, a representative from the US Embassy called Harry’s number just before 3 a.m. PT to tell him the news, but the call went unanswered.
Finally, the embassy representative contacted the Santa Barbara sheriff and asked an officer to have the prince call back.
The sheriff’s department reportedly sent an officer to the royal couple’s $14.7 million estate in Montecito, California, to tell Harry to call the embassy immediately.
Markle did not accompany her husband to Philip’s funeral because she was heavily pregnant with their daughter, Lilibet, and was banned from flying by doctors.
While Harry and Markle tore up the royal family in their amazing interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021 – in which they made allegations of racism within the family – Harry had nothing bad to say about his grandmother.
He denied allegations, which he said he believed had been leaked by palace insiders, that they had “blinded” the Queen by announcing that they intended to step down as working royals.
“No, I would never blind my grandmother, I have too much respect for her,” he told Winfrey.
Markle also spoke about their close relationship with the monarch, revealing that she had called to inquire about Philip’s health, who was in hospital at the time of their interview.
