Mama June Shannon struggles with her daughter Honey Boo Boo going under the knife to lose weight.
“I support it if this is something Alana wants to get,” the ‘From Not to Hot’ star told TMZ this week, “but I’d say she should wait until she’s 18 years old.”
The “Toddlers & Tiaras” alum, whose real name is Alana Thompson, will be 17 when she plans to receive the endoscopic suture sheath from Dr. Steven Batash, weight loss expert.
Alana is expected to undergo the surgery, which will cost approximately $13,000, along with her boyfriend Dralin Carswell.
Shannon, 42, told the outlet that she will talk to Alana’s sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, who is now her guardian, about delaying the procedure.
“It bothers me a little that Pumpkin didn’t tell me,” she said. “If Alana wants to do it, she’ll have to wait until she’s 18 to sign her own papers.”
Although Alana’s manager confirmed to Vidak For Congress that she would be undergoing surgery, the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” told Entertainment Tonight that she was not 100 percent committed to the plan.
“I just want to make sure this is really something I want to do before I just do it,” Alana explained. “I want to make sure it’s not something that’s going to kill me. And I just want to make sure it’s something I really want to do before I do it.”
Despite her reluctance, Alana admitted that she knows the surgery will be the “easiest way” to lose weight.
“I just don’t think I have any motivation, and I feel like the surgery would probably be the easiest way to get rid of it quickly,” she said.
