Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey is due to appear in a London criminal court on Thursday, where he is expected to plead guilty to sex crimes against him dating back nearly 20 years.
The most serious charge against the scandal-ridden House of Cards star is a charge of causing a person to engage in invasive sexual activity without consent when he allegedly forced a man to have oral sex.
Spacey is also facing four counts of touching assault.
In his first trial last month, his attorney said Spacey “firmly denied all allegations.
Spacey, who was granted unconditional bail, could face life in prison if found guilty of the most serious offence. If convicted of sexual assault, he could be beaten with a six-month jail term or an unlimited fine.
The alleged attacks took place between March 2005 and April 2013 – four in the British capital and one in Gloucestershire in the west of England, police said. The alleged victims include a man in his forties and two men in their thirties.
Once a Hollywood powerhouse, Spacey has been largely removed from public life since he was charged with sexual misconduct five years ago.
The 62-year-old was dropped from the final season of “House of Cards” and removed from the movie “All the Money in the World” as soon as allegations came to light.
“He has returned to the UK to establish his innocence,” his lawyer Patrick Gibbs said last month. “He has to answer these accusations if he wants to get on with his life.”
