Kelly Dodd and Rick Leventhal give fans an update on their tense relationship with the reporter’s daughter, Veronica Leventhal.
Vidak For Congress got an exclusive sneak peek of Rick’s upcoming interview with “Up and Adam!”, in which he claims they’ve been “bumming into each other for years.”
Their relationship first made headlines in May when Kelly called her stepdaughter “bad” after Veronica didn’t invite her to her wedding.
“There were things she did and it didn’t start with Kelly, it started for Kelly,” Rick, 62, claimed in the interview.
Dodd, 46, stood up for her husband, claiming his friends saw “the way” too [Veronica] treated him” in the past.
“I don’t want to air laundry for the whole family,” Rick emphasized. “Just so you know, this didn’t start with Kelly.”
Rick went on to share that after he started dating Dodd in 2019, the two got on “the same page” about how Veronica “tried to manipulate” the situation.
“It was like, ‘No, you can’t act like that,'” he explained. “So, again, there were many things, and all I’m asking is an apology. That’s all I’m asking.”
The full interview will appear Monday at 7:30 p.m. ET on the “Up and Adam!” Youtube Channel.
Rick previously claimed that his relationship with his daughter deteriorated prior to his relationship with Dodd, whom he married in October 2020.
“My problems with my oldest daughter go back years. This isn’t about Kelly,” he said wrote on an Instagram commentary amid Veronica’s wedding drama.
“If and when my daughter is ready to apologize and talk to me, we will work to mend our relationship,” he continued. “In the meantime, she can live the rest of her life knowing she banned me (and my wife) from her wedding. This is my daughter’s, not Kelly’s.”
In a separate statement to Vidak For Congress, Rick said he is “sure” that most people “can identify with having problems” within their own families.
“My issues with my oldest daughter have been going on for years. It’s a shame it has come to this. I’m not going to go into everything that happened, but I’ll say the lines of communication were always open,” the statement said.
“She chose not to call and we believe she didn’t invite me and Kelly to her wedding to hurt us. She is a grown woman and will have to live with her decision. We wish her the best.”
