Prince Louis had a sweet response after his parents informed him of the news of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.
Royal author Robert Jobson went to Twitter on Saturday to reveal a tender moment Louis’ mother, Kate Middleton, shared with children while strolling outside Windsor Castle.
Middleton, along with her husband Prince William, were joined by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they inspected floral arrangements and cards left outside Windsor Castle in honor of the late monarch.
“Banita Ranow, 28, said among the crowd on the Long Walk that she heard Kate telling children next to her about what her youngest son Louis had said about the Queen’s death,” Jobson wrote.
“She said Kate said to the kids, ‘Louis said at least Grandma’s with great-grandfather now.'”
The Queen lost her husband, Prince Philip, in April 2021. The couple had been married for 73 years. The monarch had fondly called him her “strength and hold.”
Louis, 4, became the unexpected breakout star at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June.
The royal tyke stole the spotlight from his great-grandmother when he was photographed running past the Queen to secure a good spot on Buckingham Palace’s balcony. He then made a number of animated faces, including seemingly screaming with his hands over his ears as loud planes flew overhead.
His decidedly unroyal – but totally age appropriate – antics didn’t stop there.
William and Middleton’s youngest child was caught holding his hand over his mother’s mouth days later during the Platinum Jubilee Pageant. When Middleton tried to correct him, the rambunctious boy made a series of faces, stuck out his tongue and placed his thumb on his nose while wiggling his remaining fingers.
Louis was recently photographed walking to Lambrook School with his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 after a reign of 70 years.
