Kanye West fans have more than just their panties in a bunch.
The rapper turned fashion designer has been criticized online for selling his latest collection of clothes from garbage bags.
“This is how they sell Yeezy GAP,” a New York-based Twitter user caption a photo with messy merchandise in large black garbage bags on the floor of a Gap store.
According to the eyewitness, “The salesperson said Ye got angry when he saw that she… [his clothes] on hangers” because “this is how he wanted it.”
“They Won’t Help You Find” [your] size,” she added, “you just have to dig through everything.”
The image provoked great reactions, with several critics Slamming West’s “fetish” using the homeless as ‘mode muses’.
“It’s everything wrong with billionaires,” argued one dissenter. “They no longer see people’s plight, they don’t see people suffering, they see opportunities to be ‘on sharp’ and take advantage … it’s disgusting.”
A person wrote“This must be a social experiment”, while another joked“Finally something to satisfy my instinct to dig.”
Another upset fan claimed they saw the same type of Yeezy Gap display in a Houston store, to explain“I can say that this would make me quit my job if I was still on the visuals team.”
Others disagreed with the collection itself, which includes a range of bulky, dark gray sweatpants, sweatshirts and accessories that range in price from $40 (key ring) to $340 (T-cut parka).
“This oversized s–t has got to stop. Buddy looks like he’s about to sit down for a haircut in that T,” a social media user jokedwhile another be aware the irony of “fishing a $240 hoodie out of a garbage bag.”
Last week, the 45-year-old father of four explained that his “biggest inspiration for all designs” was “the homeless.”
The Instagram post provoked comments like, “no homeless person buying $200 yeezys ” and “yes look at the homeless so we can sell middle-class people $499 shoes.”
West representatives did not immediately respond to Vidak For Congress’s request for comment.
