He’s Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka, Edward Scissorhands and now… the Moon Person?
Johnny Depp shocked fans at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards by dressing up as the network’s silver astronaut mascot — much like a source close to production confirmed to The Post.
Depp was only briefly seen in what appeared to be a pre-recorded segment during the show from LL Cool J, Jack Harlow and Nicki Minaj, who will receive this year’s Vanguard Award.

He joked that he “needed the job” before he disappeared. He kept appearing throughout the night with random commentary, including about the show going “back to the music.”
The 59-year-old actor had not appeared on the award show since receiving the Generation Award in 2012.
Over his decades-long career, he has taken home five Moonmen statues, including awards for Best Male Performance, Best Villain and Global Superstar.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor was “very excited” to make a “comeback” at this year’s VMAs after a tumultuous last few months.
This was Depp’s first public appearance since the end of his much-discussed defamation lawsuit with ex-wife Amber Heard earlier this summer.
Depp sued the 36-year-old actress over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post about sexual assault.
The actor claimed that he had lost tens of millions of dollars because of the abuse allegations in the article.
Heard was eventually ordered to pay the actor $15 million in damages after the jury unanimously ruled in Johnny’s favor.
The ‘Aquaman’ actress has since appealed the verdict, claiming the evidence did not support the final decision.
While Heard continues to oppose the ruling, it appears that Depp has already put the trial behind him.
The star of “Alice in Wonderland” will direct his first film in 25 years about the life of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.
He will co-produce the film with Al Pacino and Barry Navidi.
Depp also signed a multi-year seven-figure deal with Dior to continue to serve as the famous face of the fashion house’s best-selling Sauvage cologne.
