Jennifer Lopez confirmed her marriage to Ben Affleck in the July 17 issue of her “On The Low” newsletter.
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years of patience,” the ‘Marry Me’ actress began as she gushed about her marriage.
The star called the Vegas ceremony “Just what we wanted,” the star shared about their journey down the aisle.
“Last night we flew to Vegas, lined up for a permit with four other couples, all taking the same trip to the wedding capital of the world. Behind us, two men held hands. In front of us was a young couple who, on their daughter’s second birthday, made the three-hour drive from Victorville – we all wanted the same thing – so that the world would recognize us as partners and declare our love to the world through the ancient and almost universal symbol of the marriage.
“We were barely in the little white wedding chapel at midnight,” she revealed. “They graciously stayed open a few minutes late. Let’s take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, apparently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted to show Elvis himself it cost extra and he was in bed).”
Lopez added that she wore “a dress from an old movie” as they exchanged vows in the “little chapel” and “gave each other the rings that we will wear for the rest of our lives.”
The couple met in 2001 on the set of their movie “Gigli”, while Lopez was still married to her second husband Cris Judd. After their divorce in June 2002, “Bennifer” was born, with Affleck initially proposing in 2002. Sadly, they would never make it down the aisle.
After failed marriages for both stars, the couple reunited in 2021.
“But in the end it was the best possible wedding we could have imagined. One we dreamed of a long time ago and one that came true (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible and each other) at the very, very last minute.”
The “Let’s Get Loud” singer also added photos from the ceremony, including photos of Affleck in a white tuxedo jacket and black pants. There’s even a clip of the groom getting ready in a tiny bathroom with pink walls and scratched mirrors.
A photo of Lopez’ daughter, Emma, was also included, as the teen sat in the backseat of their marital convertible.
“They were right when they said, ‘All you need is love.'” Lopez continued. We are so thankful to have that in abundance, a new amazing family of five amazing children and a life we’ve never had so much reason to look forward to. Stick around long enough and you might find the best moment of your life driving through Las Vegas at 11:30 am in the tunnel of love you drive through, with your kids and the one you will spend forever with. Love is a wonderful thing, perhaps best of all, and it is worth the wait.”
She then signed under her married name, writing, “With love, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”
