Meet Cy!
Jennifer Lawrence revealed the name and gender of her 6-month-old child on Tuesday and told Vogue in her October 2022 cover story that she gave birth to a baby boy in February.
The little one’s name was inspired by one of her husband Cooke Maroney’s favorite artists, Cy Twombly.
The Oscar winner felt as if her whole life… started over as they welcomed the child, calling his arrival her new “day one.”
Lawrence, 32, explained, “I just stared. I was just so in love.”
The “Don’t Look Up” star also fell “in love with all the babies everywhere” at the time, gushing, “Newborns are just so amazing. It’s these pink, puffy, fragile little survivors. Now I love all babies. … My heart has been stretched to a capacity of which I knew nothing.”
However, Lawrence was willing to be “so forgiving” of herself if she didn’t make immediate contact with her newborn.
“I remember walking with one of my best friends when I was nine months old and thinking, ‘Everyone keeps saying I’ll love my baby more than my cat. But that’s not true. Maybe I’ll just love him as much as my cat?’” she recalled.
The “Hunger Games” star noted that she became pregnant before conceiving her son, but had to get a D&C after she had a miscarriage.
The pregnancy loss wasn’t her first, as Lawrence “had a miscarriage only in Montreal” when she was in her early 20s.
The mother!” star, who has just taken a two-year break from acting, believes motherhood will now influence the projects she pursues.
“I’ve had a pretty consistent theme in all my movies since I was 18,” she told the magazine. “I wonder if, now that I’m older and have a baby, I’ll finally break out of that.”
Before giving birth last year, Lawrence told Vanity Fair that she has no intention of making her child’s life public.
“Every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives, as much as I can,” the then-to-be star said in November 2021.
In May of the following year, Ellen DeGeneres seemed to be spilling the beans about the gender of Lawrence’s baby.
“I hear you talk to him sometimes,” Lawrence’s neighbor DeGeneres said during the May interview. “It’s so sweet.”
