Jaclyn Hill wrote an emotional note to her late ex-husband, Jon Hill, on Friday, calling the mute “the most kind and compassionate person” she’s ever known.
“I can’t believe this day has really arrived. I’m so crazy right now, I don’t know how to type this. But I’m going to try,” the 32-year-old wrote on Instagram just two days after his death.
She continued, “Jon, you were the most kind and compassionate person I’ve ever known. You looked people in the eye and you really listened and cared about what they had to say. You had so much talent you didn’t even know what to do with it. You have turned your pain into art and touched so many people with your honesty in your music.”
The founder of Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics then spoke of the 33-year-old’s humor and ability to make people laugh — something she “will miss forever” about the musician.
“I know we ended our marriage, but we never stopped loving and taking care of each other. All I ever wanted was for you to find your happiness and be free from your struggles. My heart is broken now I know you’re gone, but my mind knows you’re free at last.”
She closed the post by saying she will carry their “memories and inside jokes” with her forever, adding: “Rest in peace. Love, Twix.”
The influencer first shared the news with her 7.6 million followers on Thursday, saying she was “asked by Jon’s family” to make the announcement.
“It is with deep regret and sadness that we report that our beloved Andrew Jonathan Hill passed away on August 10, 2022,” the statement said.
“We are all devastated by the sudden tragedy. The Hill family asks for privacy during this openly difficult time. VR, Hill family.”
The reason for the musician’s death has not yet been disclosed.
Jaclyn and Jon tied the knot in 2009, but divorced nine years later.
In a 2019 interview with Billboard, Jon revealed his struggle with drug addiction as the reason for their split.
“During our third year of marriage, it got to a point where I started having seizures because I was using so many things,” he told the outlet at the time. “I started breaking out in hives. So it became clear that something was not right.”
Although the drummer became sober years later, he said Jaclyn had already “decided she didn’t want to be with him anymore”.
The musician said less than “two months” after their divorce that he was “back on drugs”.
Although the rocker said he was sober at the time of the interview, his health appeared to be deteriorating shortly after.
Last month, Jaclyn told fans that Jon “has not been doing well for a long time. He hasn’t had a phone in months and no one has contacted him.”
