Honey Boo Boo goes under the knife to live a healthier life.
The reality star, born Alana Thompson, will head to New York City in August after her 17th birthday to undergo weight-loss surgery, her manager told TMZ.
The former “Toddlers & Tiaras” star receives an endoscopic suture sheath from weight loss physician Steven Batash, which can cost about $13,000.
Thompson reportedly weighs 275 pounds and wants to drop to 150 after several diets didn’t give her the results she wanted. The TLC star is concerned that her weight is genetically determined and believes surgery is the only way to achieve her goals.
The “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” alum goes under the knife alongside her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, who also has weight loss goals in mind.
Thompson and Carswell, 20, have been dating since mid-2021 but didn’t make their relationship Instagram official until late September.
In a Teen Vogue profile published in August, Thompson heartbreakingly revealed that she has no friends except her boyfriend.
“Honestly, I don’t have many friends. Not at all,” she admitted at the time, “because I feel like people are like, ‘Oh my God, I’m friends with Honey Boo Boo.’
The TLC star then added, “I don’t really trust anyone, so I don’t have any friends.”
Carswell and Thompson raised eyebrows at first because of their age difference, but they live in Georgia, where the age of consent is 16.
Thompson’s mother, Mama June Shannon, shared in May 2022 that her daughter and Carswell are receiving a lot of hate for their interracial relationship.
“She gets a lot of hate because she’s in an interracial relationship, he’s older,” the star of “Mama June: Road to Redemption” told TooFab about her daughter’s romance. “Ultimately, Alana is not that 6-, 7-year-old kid you fell in love with 11 years ago.”
